“I remembered when John was born, he was one of twins. My ingenious grandmother created a pram to carry them around. Others made prams to accommodate one baby; but in those days she made one for twins. I am sorry that her idea was not patented. As John’s older brother I was the disciplinarian in the family. John was very good though, at staying out of trouble. He was an introvert, very shy and would only share his deepest feelings about missing his mother with only those who was closest to him. I never heard him sing a song as a child; he did not even hum a tune. While the others were interested in Calypso or other music; John was not interested. He worked at Obsorne’s store for many years, until he left Montserrat for greener pastures. I believe that he asked the Lord like Jabez did, to enlarge his borders. God certainly did that for John because when we met after several years; I immediately noticed that John was a different person. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17. Not only did he look different, but he was singing like an American with a deep and powerful voice. This was certainly a gift from God that he used to his honour and glory.” (Pastor Roger Wade)
